Today, the fatigue set in. The heat climbed beyond 30 degrees, and the strain of more than 150,000 steps began to take its toll. The walk carried me to the east side of Tokyo Bay, toward the edge of Chiba City, the prefectural capital. Between Nishi-Funabashi and Makuhari, density and sprawl persist, but take on a rhythmic repetition. We’re now well beyond the metropolis, moving through spaces built for everyday life. Let’s begin.
