Chiba Prefecture stretches along the coast to the east of Tokyo. Though it sits beyond the bounds of Tokyo Metropolis, it remains part of the Greater Tokyo Area, absorbed into the Kantō region’s broad economic orbit. Chiba City serves as its urban hub, within which its eponymous train station is the main point of arrival. After seven days of walking, I’ve arrived here—this is where the journey was always leading.

Today’s walk was deliberately short. I knew I’d be full in spirit, yet physically running on empty. I moved slowly under the 33-degree sun, setting out from Makuhari and passing through Kemigawa and Inage, two unhurried districts that suited my pace.

I finished the walk without ceremony. No one was waiting, only Chiba, which I entered unnoticed. This is how proceedings concluded.

Day 7: Makuhari to Chiba
